A 25-year veteran of the wine business, Lorne Jacobson has successfully operated at all levels of the wine industry. He began his career while attending university where he ran the wine program at a local restaurant and clerked at a local wine shop. In 1981, Jacobson joined Seattle wine distributor G. Raden & Sons, where he worked in the on-premise/fine wine division, a division Jacobson would later manage.
Jacobson left G. Raden & Sons in 1984 to help launch Snoqualmie Winery. During his tenure, Snoqualmie Winery acquired Saddle Mountain Winery and by the time he left in 1990, Jacobson was widely credited with building both labels into the third largest winery operation from Washington State at 125,000 cases. In 1990, Jacobson was recruited by K&L Distributors to help launch their new fine wine division, K&L Classic Wine Company. As Sales Manager, he ran their off-premise division and was responsible for an extensive sales team, merchandisers, re-set staff as well as grocery store headquarters' calls. Jacobson was instrumental in propelling K&L Classic Wine Company from one of the smallest distributors in the Puget Sound to the third largest in the area. In 1994, Jacobson left K&L Distributors to become Director of Sales & Marketing for Hedges Cellars, at the time a relative newcomer to the Washington wine scene.
During his time at Hedges Cellars, Jacobson was responsible for building Hedges Cellars' national distribution and broker network and nearly tripling the revenue of the winery. In addition, he is responsible for Red Mountain being granted AVA (American Viticultural Area) status. In 2004, Jacobson left Hedges Cellars to found Kelnan Wine Management. He resides on Mercer Island with his wife Lauren and cat PK.
